The research at the University of the Aegean has also significantly contributed to resolving problems at local level, connecting its operation with the local societies of the islands that host its Departments. Moreover, the University has contributed to generating high-level scientific staff, participating actively and considerably in research, the University’s education and in industry projects.
Information Management Lab (i4M Lab): In this Project, University of the Aegean participates through the Financial and Management Engineering Department – Information Management Lab (http://www.fme.aegean.gr & http://www.atlantis-group.gr).
- i4M Lab Research focuses on the design, development, management and use of Information Technology (IT) and IT-based Service Systems in complex organizations, including government, industry value chains and value systems, inter-organizational business processes for SMEs and large enterprises. Recent work includes applications (not an exhaustive list) in e-government and e-logistics.
- i4M main Research Topics include: Business Process Modeling and Automation, e-Identity, Privacy and Distributed Access,, Distributed Ledger Technologies, Service Systems Modeling and Engineering (Science of Services), Intelligent Transportation Systems, Economics and Management of Technical Change, IT Innovation and Public Policies in the Digital Era. The Lab is factored to foster links with the industry and the government, to act as an intermediary platform between faculty and students interested to the above issues and industry, research and government bodies; links include: Hellenic Federation of Enterprises - SEV, Ericsson Hellas SA, Microsoft Hellas SA, Hewlett Packard Enterprise-Greece, Coordination of Local Authorities - KEDE, Greek Public Broadcasting – ERT, Piraeus Bank, Singular Logic, IST SA, ARX.NET, Celestyal Cruises, different Ministries and e-government agencies (including the Hellenic Ministry of Administrative Reconstruction) and many others.
